Engineers From Turkey Must Apply For Degrees' Accreditation

To facilitate the process of these engineers being able to claim the title of 'engineer' in their work permits, the Society of Engineers has stated that engineering certificates issued by Turkish universities, whether government or private, must seek accreditation.

Sources told a local Arabic daily that Turkish university graduates holding engineering degrees must apply for accreditation to Kuwait's Kuwait Society of Engineers, arguing that accreditation is an essential step for the renewal or issuance of a work permit under the name "engineer" or other titles indicating engineering expertise.

Sources noted that graduates of Turkish universities, whether private or public, are subjected to tests in the fields they studied before accreditation certificates are issued, especially for those whose degrees do not pertain to the standards set by the country and applicable by the association.

Last week, the Society of Engineers handed over the list of documents needed for engineering accreditation in accordance with the procedure to Bilal Emreh, the advisor for the Turkish Embassy in the country. There are 207 universities in Turkey, and 150 of them are public.
