In A Week, Kuwait Records 1,542 Accidents And 23,744 Violations
The latest statistics released by the General Traffic Department have unveiled concerning figures regarding road safety in Kuwait, covering the period from the 20th to the 26th of this month. According to the report, a total of 1,542 traffic accidents occurred during this timeframe, with 248 classified as serious accidents. Fortunately, 1,394 minor accidents did not result in injuries or fatalities.
Additionally, the weekly data revealed a staggering number of traffic violations, with authorities issuing 23,744 citations. Among these violations, 35 juveniles were apprehended for driving without valid licenses, while 36 individuals were detained for committing serious traffic offenses.
To address these issues and enhance road safety, traffic police conducted extensive campaigns across all six governorates of Kuwait. As a result, 200 vehicles and motorcycles were referred to impound garages.
However, despite these efforts, a collision occurred yesterday on the Fahaheel Expressway involving two vehicles. The collision resulted in the injury of two individuals who were promptly transported to Al-Adan Hospital. A security source has confirmed that the condition of the injured parties is critical, emphasizing the urgent need for heightened awareness and adherence to traffic regulations.
The General Traffic Department continues to urge all motorists to exercise caution, abide by traffic laws, and prioritize safety on the roads to mitigate the risk of accidents and fatalities.
