Campaign Nabs Expats And Domestic Workers In Salmiya And Hawally

15 April 2020 Coronavirus

A dozen marginal workers were detained for violating residency laws and referred to the Immigration Investigations department for deportation with a ban. On investigation, it was found that they were in violation of their residence visas professions. The workers violated the law that prevented gatherings as well as worked outside their profession and organizations hired under.

Hawalli Governorate Municipality branch yesterday launched the investigation in coordination with the Public Authority for Manpower and Immigration Investigations in Salmiya area on Amman Street and Hawally near Kurdish Roundabout area. The team had organized a plan to control unlawful gatherings of workers.

Some inspectors acted as customers to request the expats’ services, and most of the detained workers were involved in painting, tiling, building and demolishing. The sponsors will be called for investigation, and details of the violations will be recorded and their files will be closed.

The law is equal for everyone without any exception. The public has been repeatedly warned not to hire outside laborers and bring them to their houses and offices due to the present social distancing requirement to contain the spread of coronavirus.
