Philippine Embassy Announces The Sad Demise Of Welfare Officer Of Owwa
The Philippine Embassy in Kuwait announces the untimely passing of Eduardo Espinar Bellido, Welfare Officer of the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) in Kuwait, on 29 June at the age of 61 due to pneumonia.
Welfare Officer Bellido spent much of his professional career with OWWA, spanning almost 40 years of service to the Overseas Filipino Worker. Prior to his assignment to Kuwait in 2018, Welfare Officer Bellido served as the Regional Director Officer-in-Charge from 2013 to 2017, then as Regional Director of OWWA Region XI (Davao Region) from 2017 to 2018. As OWWA Welfare Officer, he was posted in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia from 2004 to 2006, and in Madrid, Spain from 2011 to 2013.
Recently, Welfare Officer Bellido spearheaded the OWWA food relief drive for thousands of Filipinos who are affected by the COVID-19 lockdown in Kuwait, and played an active role in the financial assistance program of the Department of Labor and Employment for OFWs who were displaced by the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Ed,” as Welfare Officer Bellido is fondly called by his colleagues and friends, will always be remembered for his zeal for life, and his passion to serve his fellow Filipino the way he knows best.
The Embassy extends its heartfelt condolences to the family of Welfare Officer Bellido, and joins the Philippine Overseas Labor Office (POLO) and OWWA Kuwait in mourning his demise.
The Embassy requests the Filipino community in Kuwait to pray for the eternal repose of the soul of Welfare Officer Bellido.
