Reopening Filipino Domestic Worker Visas
The Kuwait Union of Owners of Domestic Workers Recruitment Offices has made an urgent plea to His Highness the Prime Minister, Dr. Sheikh Mohammed Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah. The appeal is a response to the difficulties faced by office owners following the halt in visas from key countries that supply domestic workers, such as the Philippines, Indonesia, and Ethiopia.
The lack of formal agreements with these nations has led to significant financial losses, a lack of competition, and a limited range of recruitment options, impacting both citizens and residents negatively. The union specifically calls for the reintroduction of Filipino domestic workers into the Kuwaiti market, highlighting their popularity, educational background, English language skills, and proficiency in household duties.
Emphasizing the beneficial influence of Filipino workers on Kuwaiti households, especially during Ramadan, the appeal stresses the immediate necessity to resume issuing work permits for Filipino domestic workers. The union implores the Prime Minister to consider their request, underlining the essential role these workers play in easing the burdens faced by Kuwaiti families and residents.
