Filipino Domestic Workers Recruitment To Resume Soon
Filipino domestic workers are expected to resume recruitment soon after Kuwait and the Philippines reach an agreement on some points.
A breakthrough is expected in the case of Filipino domestic workers soon, according to reliable sources; a delegation from the Department of Migrant Workers in the Philippines arrived in the country on Tuesday. According to sources, the delegation will meet with Kuwaiti authorities on Wednesday and Thursday, indicating they will likely agree to reopen recruitment on Thursday or next week.
The shelter center and work contracts are the most important topics for discussion between the authorities, according to sources. They added that the Philippine side requested expanding the center’s procedures in dealing with workers and establishing an approved work mechanism.
According to sources, the Philippine side will propose receiving the domestic workers at the embassy and then transferring them to the shelter so that the related procedures can be completed and the dues of the workers can be settled or deported.
Sources pointed out that Kuwaiti officials will confirm that Kuwait is one of the countries that treat all workers in a humane manner, and that workers' rights are preserved in every aspect, and that legal authorities often represent workers to ensure they receive their entitlements and demands.
In addition, Kuwait is one of the countries that protects workers' rights and does not discriminate between one worker and another. Every employee is treated equally, and if an employer commits a mistake, the necessary measures are taken.
