GTD Cracks Down On Vehicle Noise Pollution In Sulaibiya
Under the directives of Major General Yousef Al-Khadda, Assistant Undersecretary for Traffic and Operations Affairs, the General Traffic Department initiated a comprehensive security campaign targeting garages and repair shops within the Sulaibiya Industrial Estate. The focus of the campaign was on manufacturers of vehicle exhausts known to produce excessive noise.
The operation yielded significant results, with 110 traffic violations issued, the apprehension of 3 violators of residency laws, and the impoundment of 5 vehicles emitting disruptive noises. Additionally, electricity was disconnected from 4 workshops, and municipal authorities removed 12 abandoned vehicles from the area.
Brigadier General Ashraf Al-Amir supervised the campaign on the ground, acting upon instructions from Brigadier General Jamal Al-Foudari, Director General of the General Traffic Department, and Brigadier General Ghazi Nayef Abu Qaba, Assistant Director General of the General Traffic Department for Technical Affairs.
Various government entities collaborated in the campaign, with participation from the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, the Ministry of Electricity and Water, the Public Authority for Food and Nutrition, the Municipality of Kuwait, the Department of Investigations for Residency Affairs, and the Public Authority for Industry.
The initiative reflects the Traffic Department’s commitment to maintaining road safety and curbing disturbances caused by noisy vehicle exhausts. By targeting manufacturing sources within the industrial estate, authorities aim to mitigate noise pollution and uphold regulatory standards for vehicle emissions.
