The Kuwaiti Workforce Has Reached 2.9 Million; Indians Have Increased In Number While Egyptians Have Decreased

The latest statistics from Kuwait's Central Statistical Bureau reveal a significant uptick in the nation's non-Kuwaiti workforce, excluding domestic employees, which surged to 1,678,958 by the close of 2023. This marks a notable increase from the previous year's figure of 1,593,496, showcasing a steady rise in foreign labor contribution to Kuwait's economy, constituting 78.7% of the total workforce.

In tandem with this growth, Kuwaiti workers also saw an uptick, reaching 454,038 compared to 442,647 in December 2022. Additionally, the domestic sector employs 786,231 workers, illustrating the diverse employment landscape within the country.

Among the non-Kuwaiti workforce, Indians dominated the demographic, with 535,083 individuals employed by December 2023, up from 497,087 the previous year. Egyptians followed closely with 476,866 individuals, although experiencing a slight decrease of around 6,000 workers.

Meanwhile, Bangladesh witnessed a notable increase of approximately 18,000 workers in 2023, alongside a significant surge in Nepali labor, which soared by around 17,000 workers. This represents a remarkable 27% increase from 2022, with Nepali workers numbering 80,313 by the end of 2023, up from 62,930.
