64 Cars Seized And 29,604 Traffic Citations Issued
During the previous week, the Traffic and Operations Sector conducted several security and traffic campaigns following direct instructions from Major General Yousef Al-Khadda, the Assistant Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior for Traffic and Operations Affairs, reports Al-Jarida daily. During these campaigns 29,604 violations were recorded, 64 vehicles and 50 motorcycles were referred to the impounding garage.
This is in addition to arresting 36 violators of the traffic laws and reckless motorists and 27 juveniles were referred to the Juvenile Prosecution. The security authorities have also arrested 10 persons wanted in connection with security and criminal cases were apprehended and three persons were arrested for possession and use of narcotic substances. Lieutenant Colonel Abdullah Bu Hassan, from the Public Relations and Traffic Awareness Department, said the comprehensive traffic security plan covered all types of roads, including roundabouts, main, expressways, and interior roads.
This plan aimed to manage traffic effectively, especially in response to increased reckless driving and gatherings, particularly during the recent rainy weather. The plan was executed under the supervision of Brigadier General Jamal Al-Foudari, the Director of the General Traffic Department, and his assistant for traffic regulation affairs, Brigadier General Saad Al-Qatwan, along with traffic managers from various departments.
