11 July 2017 Crime News

Assistant Undersecretary for Services Affairs at Ministry of Health Dr Mahmoud Al-Abdulhadi affirmed that the news reports and video clip which went viral on social media last Friday about the presence of blood-contaminated pillows in one of the hospital wards affiliated to the ministry are completely false and void of truth, reports Al-Seyassah daily.

He clarified that the contaminated pillows were taken from the store of damaged materials and being prepared to be destroyed. Dr Al-Abdulhadi revealed that the pillows were in securely closed bags to protect the health of the public and environment based on applied procedures.

He indicated that the posting of the video clip on social media was a malicious act committed by an individual who took out the sealed pillows from the damaged materials store and put them on medical beds with the sole aim of taking videos and posting them on social media. Dr Al-Abdulhadi affirmed that the ministry has inspection committees represented by hotel services department who periodically ensure the patients’ rooms are clean and tidy as well as the tools and accessories used to treat them. He stressed that all observations and violations are recorded as soon as they are detected.

Regarding the contaminated or damaged materials, Dr Abdulhadi explained that they are immediately disposed in accordance with the mechanism followed by the ministry. There are also hotel services supervisors inside all ministry hospitals who inspect these kinds of issues on a daily basis.

He concluded by urging social media users to verify their information before they spread news related to health services, stressing that the ministry welcomes constructive suggestions and observations related to health services through which it can improve the services.
