Syrian Arrested For Smuggling Of Maids
It has been reported that a Syrian expat with a criminal history has been arrested for smuggling migrant female workers away from their sponsors' homes and employing them for daily wages, according to authorities at the Ministry of Interior, specifically the Migrant Workers Shelter Section. The operation involved search, investigation, and monitoring that lasted for a week
Security sources reveal that the Residency Affairs Investigations team has received numerous reports indicating workers are fleeing their sponsors' residences. Consequently, a dedicated team of detectives was assembled to pinpoint and surveil areas associated with these reports. This concerted effort led to the apprehension of the accused, a Syrian national, in the act of expertly smuggling a maid from her sponsor’s residence in the Jaber Al-Ahmad area. As soon as he was apprehended, he was handed over to the Investigations Bureau."
The source further stated, “The accused confessed to engaging in this criminal activity for an extended period. In addition, he guided detectives to an apartment in the Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh area where four female workers were hiding."
