Moi Steps Up Campaign Against Illegals, Traffic Rules Violators And Spread Of Drugs
The Ministry of Interior has intensified its campaign against those who violated the Residency Law and traffic regulations.
A security source revealed the ministry conducted a series of campaigns in various governorates in a bid to prevent crimes, especially among the youths who consume drugs and alcohol and then drive under the influence.
He affirmed that security presence on the roads has been intensified to curb the spread of drug addicts who usually cause problems, brawls and traffic accidents.
The source added the campaigns focused on minors who drive vehicles, particularly those below 14 years old. He said those arrested were referred to the Juvenile Public Prosecution and their vehicles impounded for a period of not less than two months while citations were issued to the owners of vehicles who allowed the children to drive.
Meanwhile, the Rescue Police General Department, which is affiliated to the Operations and Traffic sectors, carried out traffic campaigns over the weekend covering Qairawan, Kabad, Umm Al Haiman and Wafra.
These campaigns resulted in the discovery of an undisclosed quantity of drugs, arrest of 18 individuals involved in civil and criminal cases, 21 who violated the Residency Law and 14 who were reported absconding.
Similar campaigns led to the arrest of several individuals who violated the laws of the country including reckless drivers in Jahra, Jaber Al- Ahmad, Sabah Al-Ahmad, Khairan, King Fahad Motorway and King Abdulziz Motorway.
This is in addition to the issuance of 2,664 traffic citations, impounding of 161 vehicles and one motorbike, arrest of 26 minors who are below 18 years old, 36 persons under traffic custody, referral of six persons for deportation, 64 persons to various police stations, and arrest of four persons involved in different cases.
