Food Security Is A Priority For The Dairy Federation

The Federation of Fresh Dairy Producers has requested that the relevant authorities strengthen their support for them in order to help them improve food security.

According to a local Arabic newspaper, one of the major challenges affecting cow ranchers is excessive feed prices.

In the presence of a number of veterinarians, farm owners, and workers, the Federation's Vice-President, Dr Abdulaziz Al-Ateeqi, said during a workshop to shed light on the latest developments that some of them suffered financial losses as a result of the incompatibility of what is spent on fodder compared to what is produced and sold, in addition to the significant impact resulting from the end of budgets established for support, and the delay in disbursing subsidies by the responsible authorities in the state.

He went on to say that this has a negative impact on farms and delays their development and continuity processes, emphasizing the importance of finding a solution to the difficulties they face in the area of fodder, and that concerned people should pay attention to the local animal sector because it plays a critical role in enhancing food security, as demonstrated during the Coronavirus pandemic.
