Between Jan 1 and Sept 30 2021, the number of expatriate workers aged 60 and older working in Kuwait's public and private sectors decreased, whereas the number of domestic workers of that age group increased.

A local Arabic daily citing official data reports that there are 13,500 workers in this category who have left within 9 months, resulting in a 17 percent decrease in their total number, which went from 81,500 at the start of 2021 to 67,980 by Sept. 30.

It decreased from 6,065 on January 1, 2021 to 5,040 at the end of last September, a decrease of 17 percent in the number of expatriates 60 years and older in the government sector.

By September 30, 2021, the number of residents aged 60 and over decreased by 17%, which equates to 12,500 fewer male and female workers. The total number of migrants aged 60 and over at the end of 2021 was 62,940, down from 75,450 at the start of 2021.

During the year ending September 30th, 2020, the number of male and female domestic workers increased by 1,281 relative to the number of male and female workers during the end of the same month of 2020, when their number reached 10,700.
