Start Of Operations At Al-sabriya Jurassic Oil, Gas Field - Koc

Kuwait Oil Co announced on Wednesday the immediate launch of operations at Al-Sabriya field, which will produce Jurassic oil and gas.

The field is the first of three similar projects, which have been under construction, and will "contribute to the gradual increase of gas and oil production," the state-run firm said in a statement.

The remaining two fields are expected to be operational in the coming months. With the new addition, KOC expects the production of gas in the first quarter of the following financial year to reach a daily 500 million cubic feet, with oil production to climb by 200,000 barrels.

The accomplishment outlines the company's commitment to raise its production of gas in order for the country to reach the strategic goal of responding to domestic demand.

The company added that a ceremony to mark the occasion was held under the attendance and auspices of Kuwait Petroleum Corporation Board Deputy Chairman and CEO Nizar Al-Adsani and KOC CEO Jamal Jaafar.
