Roving Butchers Face Penalty

The director of Public Relations and Media Department and spokesperson for the Public Authority for Manpower Aseel Al-Mazidi has said slaughter of sheep during blessed Eid Al-Adha holiday should not be carried outside the places authorized by the concerned authorities, reports Al-Seyassah daily.

She clarified, in a statement yesterday, that PAM will intensify inspection campaigns during the holiday to control the violators and to eliminate the phenomenon of what she called ‘roving butchers’.

She said the law will be applied strictly and the violators will be punished according to the provisions of the labor and residence laws and municipal requirements because of its impact on public health, as well as it is a violation of health measures taken by the state during the current period. She emphasized violators will be subject to deportation and the files of their employers will be closed.

Meanwhile, Director of the Slaughterhouses Department at the Public Authority for Food and Nutrition (PAFN) Mohammad Al-Salem stressed the necessity to bring the sacrifice on the first day of Eid Al-Adha, while indicating that the sheep market will open its doors starting from the second day, reports Al-Rai daily.

Al-Salem affirmed the availability of the service to book appointments online through the government electronic platform — ‘Matta’ — from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm with maximum of five sacrifices per reservation on the first day provided the health regulations are strictly followed.
