Paci In Chaos: Issuance Of 250,000 Civil Cards For Expats Delayed
250,000 civil cards for expatriates have been deferred due to a tampering with the Public Authority for Civil Information by the 'mafia' whose members, at the behest of an authority official, deliberately delaying issuing civil identification cards to blackmail expatriates and to obtain about 50 dinars each for the issuance of these cards, when citizens and their servants' cards are issued in a matter of a few days.
This happens at a time when in the twenty-first century technology has moved at a fast pace but corruption continues unabated in spite of demands from everyone to eradicate corruption, while Al-Jarida learned from its sources that the mastermind of that mafia manages a group of securitymen at the PACI building who negotiate with the person concerned to obtain a bribe from him and deliver it to the official, indicating that he is aware of the extent of the weakness of this category, and for this he is keen to provide ID cards for citizens and their servants without delay to keep the issue under control.
Expatriate families have been waiting for more than nine months to receive their ID cards after paying the service fees, according to the sources. Others have not received their ID cards after paying the 5 dinar fee under the pretext that employees work under pressure and must pay a bribe, despite paying the 5 dinar fee.
Based on the sources, the idea of delaying and exploiting crises has been around since the beginning of the Corona crisis. Despite the fact that PACI has large quantities of cards ready for printing, the crisis seems to have not yet ended. Delegations were sent by the authority to Poland, the parent company's headquarters, to obtain raw materials. The extortion of expatriates, however, continues undeterred, and waiting remains the master of the situation.
