No Stampede Or Problems At Paci Building, Civil Id Cards Ready For Distribution
The day before yesterday, hundreds of visitors were crowding at the front gate causing a stampede crisis. This was eased today at the Public Authority for Civil Information (PACI) building, with tightening security procedures and visitors now understanding the need to make advance online reservations and adhere to the health requirements to receive the civil card, or conduct other transactions for citizens and expatriates, reports Al Rai daily.
The General Director of the PACI, Musaed Al-Asousi, said that the authority is urging people to come to complete their transactions or receive their cards after work was suspended for nearly 4 months, and affirms the authority’s ability to work at full capacity, as it can distribute 20,000 cards per day, as before.
He pointed out that the health requirements approved by the Ministry of Health under the current conditions to confront the coronavirus pandemic forced the authority to work with 30 percent of its employees, in addition to following social distancing, and reducing the number of visitors, in order to prevent crowding and another stampede for their safety. He added that the health measures would ensure that the visitors would not carry the coronavirus to their homes and families, considering that the health of the visitors and their families are more important than the civil id cards.
The “My Identity” Kuwait Mobile ID application is a successful and approved alternative to conduct all transactions, he added. It can temporarily replace the presence of the regular civil id card, he noted, and called on the public to download this free app on their mobile phones. He also noted many transactions were completed online, without the need for the attendance of the people at the PACI building during this hot weather.
The civil card delivery service, which has been made available to deliver to homes, will significantly reduce congestion, Al-Asousi stressed, and the civil id cards stacked in PACI machines, which number approximately 100,000, will be delivered, in addition to 350,000 cards registered for renewal during the coronavirus crisis, with the priority to start issuing them.
He also emphasized the need for the visitors to respect the Authority’s employees, including citizens or expatriates working to guard the building as security, and any insult to them is unacceptable. Legal measures will be taken against those who offend a public employee while he is working, because the employees is doing their duty and their efforts must be appreciated in these special circumstances, he remarked.
