Municipality Inspectors Issuing 26 Citations And The Lifting Of 230 Cubic Meters Of Waste Materials In Shuwaikh Area
Public Hygiene and Road Usage Department of Capital Municipality carried out a number of campaigns targeting beaches especially in Shuwaikh area, which resulted in the issuance of 26 citations and the lifting of 230 cubic meters of waste materials, reports Al-Seyassah daily. In a press release, Director of the department Meshal Al-Azmi explained that the campaigns are part of the enforcement of Law No. 9/1987 which bans dumping garbage, empty cans, cigarettes and tissues on pavements, yards and streets.
The fines related to the citations issued during the campaigns can reach KD 200. The campaigns were in line with the Ministerial Decision No. 149/2006 concerning shops and cafés that occupy additional space illegally. Shift B team carried out the campaign targeting the shops and cafés and resulted in the issuance of ten citations against the illegal usage of additional space and four citations against violations related to public hygiene.
Also, the public hygiene team carried out a campaign which resulted in the issuance of 12 citations against violations related to hygiene and the lifting of 230 cubic meters of waste materials in addition to the cleaning of streets in Shuwaikh area. Al-Azmi called upon all beach users to maintain public hygiene and throw waste materials only in the specified garbage containers.
