24 February 2021 Kuwait

Kuwait continued its tireless efforts in uniting the Gulf and Arab countries, as it turned in the past two days into a kiss for the brothers who gathered under its roof.

After hosting the day before yesterday, an Emirati-Qatari meeting to follow up on the conclusion of the Al-Ula summit statement, Kuwait hosted an Egyptian-Qatari meeting yesterday, paving the way for a comprehensive refinement of the atmosphere of relations between Cairo and Doha.

Diplomatic sources told Al-Qabas that the Egyptian-Qatari meeting was "positive", in which all the files were opened on the table, and they were dealt with in a very calm breath, reflecting a state of agreement between the two sides, far from any tension or difference in views.

The sources said that the meeting touched on an anticipated return to Egyptian-Qatari relations at various levels, chiefly political, economic and tourism.

She added that the meeting discussed the Gulf reconciliation file in all its aspects, pointing to other upcoming meetings whose dates and locations will be determined later, in order to restore the water to its course.

The Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that two delegations, representing the Egyptian and Qatari sides, held a meeting in Kuwait yesterday, for the first time since the “Al-Ula statement” issued on January 5 last year by the Gulf summit hosted by Saudi Arabia, in order to set mechanisms and procedures for the future phase.

She said, "The two sides welcomed the measures taken by the two countries after signing the Al-Ula statement as a step on the path of building confidence between them." The meeting also discussed the necessary means and measures to be taken in order to enhance the joint work process and the two countries' bilateral relations, and achieve the aspirations of their peoples for security, stability and development.

The Qatari Foreign Ministry added that the two sides expressed their appreciation to Saudi Arabia for hosting the recent Gulf summit, which culminated in the issuance of the "Al-Ula Statement," and to Kuwait for hosting the first meeting between them.
