Kuwait Is Among The Top Destinations For Filipino Nurses
Arabic local newspaper alqabas reported that Director of the Philippine Employment Department, Bernard Olalia, listed Kuwait among the most important destinations for Filipino health care workers, especially nurses, noting that “the Middle East and Saudi Arabia are at the forefront of destinations, followed by Qatar, Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates.”
According to the “Philippine Canadian Inquirer” website, Olalia said, “Several countries in three continents are ready to accept Filipino workers in medical specialties after the government lifted the temporary sending ban, indicating during a press conference held in” Laging Handa “that Manila and Riyadh had a bilateral agreement that includes Send medical personnel.
First choice
He mentioned that job opportunities are also waiting for Filipino nurses in the United States, especially since “many countries around the world consider our nurses the first and best choice.”
Olalia welcomed the proposed measure on increasing the salaries of medical professionals in the Philippines, as “it is good that they receive attention, and it will be beneficial for nurses because they may decide to work in the country and stay with their families,” despite the fact that the initial salary offered by destination countries is higher, as it is at least 100 thousand A monthly Philippine peso “equals about 618 Kuwaiti dinars,” while according to the proposed law, the salary of nurses will be adjusted from a little more than 32 thousand pesos to more than 60 thousand pesos per month.
