Electricity Usage Reached A Record High Exceeding 14,000mw

For the first time, electricity usage reached a record high on Monday exceeding 14,000MW, reports Al-Qabas daily.

It is worth mentioning that Kuwait has been providing Abu Dhabi with 200MW on daily basis from beginning of July. This means the net electricity usage on Monday was 13,866MW. Before this, the highest recorded consumption rate this season was 13,800MW.

Sources affiliated to Ministry of Electricity and Water revealed that the current high temperatures in the country represent the main reason for the increased consumption of electricity and water especially during the daytime.

Minister of Public Works Abdulrahman Al-Mutawa recently held discussions with members of Al-Khairan Residents Committee concerning their demands related to infrastructure and service roads, reports Al-Qabas daily.

Meeting

According to informed sources, the meeting was attended by a number of assistant undersecretaries. Al-Mutawa stressed the need to implement all of the demands of the residents of Khairan residential area.

Meanwhile, Board Chairman of the ministry’s Labor Union Bader Al-Barbar revealed that the Undersecretary of Ministry of Public Works Eng. Awatif Al-Ghunaim approved the installation of sunshades in the yard in front of the head office of the ministry.

He said this step was aimed to solve the congestion problem in the parking area of the building, adding that Eng. Al-Ghunaim also approved the construction of air-conditioned pedestrian bridge to the parking area.

Furthermore, newly-appointed Undersecretary for Social Affairs and Labor Saad Al-Kharaz affirmed that reform strategy initiated by the Minister of Social Affairs and Labor and State Minister for Economic Development Hind Al-Sabeeh will be fulfilled, reports Al-Qabas daily.

In his first press release after Cabinet’s approval of his appointment, Al-Kharaz said the entire ministry departments serve the interests of citizens, citing Cooperative Sector and Social Aid Department. He noted the two departments serve each Kuwaiti household.

He commended efforts exerted to activate the automation process to enhance service rendered to citizens. He stressed the importance of positive cooperation between the ministry and various State institutions, particularly State Audit Bureau. He pointed to keenness of the ministry to work on the observations of State Audit Bureau concerning employment, indicating those pointed out over the last five years have since been rectified.

He pledged continuous cooperation with the assistant undersecretaries of the ministry and praised the reshuffling move, saying it supports development and increases opportunities. He also expressed gratitude to the Cabinet and Minister Al-Sabeeh for the office bestowed on him.

In another development, a number of people with special needs presented a proposal for allocation of a fund or establishment of an agency to adopt their projects within the small and medium enterprises, reports Al-Shahed daily quoting informed sources.

They explained that Minister of Commerce and Industry received the proposal, and asked for further details and method of communication in order to study the projects and ways to adopt them. He affirmed that people with special needs have distinguished projects in the sector of small and medium enterprises, and that they have sufficient experiences to launch such companies and obtaining licenses; however, they need more support. He also indicated that the proposal requests facilitation of their businesses in the National Fund for Small and Medium Enterprises, stressing that the result of the proposal will be issued in the coming few days.
