December 22nd Is The Winter Solstice In Kuwait

On Sunday, Al-Ojeiri Scientific Center announced that the winter solstice would occur on December 22.

During the Winter Solstice, the sun is at its lowest daily maximum elevation in the sky, resulting in short daytime hours and long evenings.

A statement from the center obtained by Kuwait News Agency said the same month would feature astronomical phenomena such as meteor showers known as Geminids.

A meteor shower like this is considered one of the brightest celestial events, passing 120 meteors in an hour. It is visible for the human eye in the middle of December if the conditions are appropriate intensifying by December 14 and 15.

It was reported by the center that Mercury would be at its furthest from the sun on the fourth day of the month, and could be seen from the sky at night on that day.

It was predicted that the crescent moon would appear on December 12 and the full moon would appear on December 27.
