Court Acquitted Three Expats Who Were Accused Of Forging Civil Ids For Buying Sim Cards
The Criminal Court acquitted three expatriates who were accused of forging civil IDs for buying SIM cards and mobile phones on installment basis from a telecommunication company. The Public Prosecution charged the first defendant of replacing the photograph in the civil ID of the victim with his own photograph and changing the names after taking a copy of the stolen civil ID.
He was also charged with forging documents including a signed contract with the relevant company after giving the employees wrong information.
The second and third defendants were charged with helping the first defendant carry out his transactions even though they knew the given information was wrong. During the court session, Lawyer Ena’am Haidar, who was representing the third defendant, stressed that her client had no criminal intention and was not aware that the information given was wrong. She raised doubts concerning the investigations, saying they were not serious and lacked evidences.
