Kuwait Health Minister Announces Opening Of Advanced Cancer Control Center

Dr. Ahmed Al-Awadhi, Kuwait’s Minister of Health, has unveiled plans for the imminent inauguration of the Kuwait Cancer Control Center in the Al-Sabah Health District. Set to become a beacon of cutting-edge medical care, the center will feature state-of-the-art equipment, including a groundbreaking device hailed as the first of its kind in the Middle East.

Addressing reporters after the inauguration of the Kuwaiti Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's inaugural forum, Minister Al-Awadhi underscored the ministry's commitment to bolstering cancer patient care. This commitment includes providing the latest treatments and fostering the professional development of national medical practitioners through training on cutting-edge protocols, ultimately enhancing service quality.

During his address at the forum's opening, Minister Al-Awadhi shed light on the prevalence of lymphoma diseases, constituting a significant portion of leukemia cases. He emphasized the ministry's focus on cancer treatment and the provision of advanced therapies like immunotherapy, alongside overarching objectives to fortify the healthcare system and enhance service standards.

The forum, designed as an educational platform for healthcare professionals, leukemia patients, caregivers, and family members, aims to offer insights into treatment options and current therapies. With contributions from renowned experts hailing from the United Kingdom, Italy, Germany, Canada, and Gulf countries, the forum promises enriching discussions and practical exchanges.

Dr. Abdul Aziz Hamada, Head of the Hematology Department at the Kuwait Cancer Control Center and President of the Kuwait Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, highlighted the forum's significance in organizing scientific lectures on blood diseases, featuring specialists from Gulf countries, Europe, and North America. Workshops and discussion panels are also planned to facilitate multidisciplinary engagement and patient-centric care.

Dr. Fatima Khadada, the forum's head, emphasized its collaborative approach, focusing on scientific sessions alongside workshops and discussions on psychological and nutritional aspects with patients. The forum's agenda for the second day includes discussions on cutting-edge treatments like cell therapy and strategies for coping with the disease.

Abdulaziz Al-Marzouq, a Board member of the Kuwait Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, outlined the society's mission to raise awareness about early blood cancer diagnosis, improve healthcare quality, and foster psychological and social support programs. Additionally, initiatives include supporting the Patient Registry project and promoting the adoption of new treatments like cellular therapies in Kuwait.

The Kuwait Cancer Control Center, established in 1968 under the Ministry of Health, stands as a premier government institution dedicated to providing comprehensive care for cancer patients.
