Bonuses Linked To Performance
In a new move to reduce public spending, the Ministry of Finance has directed all government agencies, and affiliated institutions and independent bodies to put controls regard granting remunerations to members of their boards of directors, and said the maximum ceiling should be determined by member’s performance during the fiscal year, reports Al-Rai daily. In this regard, the daily learned that the Council of Ministers has authorized the Civil Service Commission (CSC) concerning implementation of its decision regarding the controls and conditions for granting bonuses to board members in government institutions and categorized annual bonuses.
The sources pointed out it was noted that the remuneration of board members in government agencies varies from one place to another and is not related to performance, explaining that some agencies grant a remuneration to each of its members equal to twice his salary maximum, while others limit the bonus to a minimum. The sources revealed that the government’s directive in this regard ensures the bonus is linked to the performance of each individual at the end of the fiscal year.
