Biometric Passports Are Soon To Be Issued To Syrians In Kuwait

18 October 2023 Kuwait

The Syrian Embassy's Chargé d'Affaires, Tamim Madani, announced next week that the embassy is planning to install devices to issue new biometric passports by early November, according to Al-Rai.

Passport processing will be streamlined under the new system, he said.

As much as possible, the Syrian charge d'affaires said, the embassy extends the validity of current passports. Additionally, they are developing tailored solutions for specific cases to facilitate the community members until the new system is fully implemented.

Additionally, he clarified that Kuwaiti authorities recognize and accept the identification papers issued by the embassy for newborns. This measure ensures compliance with residency regulations for newborns until they are provided with a new passport.

As part of its efforts to serve the community, the embassy has distributed approximately 7,200 passports of the 8,200 delayed passports so far and invited those affected to collect their passports at the embassy.
