Author Salman Rushdie Stabbed On Stage In Ny

Salman Rushdie, a writer, was attacked today in New York during a gathering. He allegedly took 10 to 15 blows throughout the assault. He struck for almost twenty seconds. According to a reporter, it's unclear whether Mr. Rushdie was hit or stabbed by the assailant. Rushdie was reportedly flown by helicopter to a nearby hospital after the stabbing was confirmed by the New York State Police. Police have the assailant in custody.

At the Chautauqua Institution in upstate New York, Salman Rushdie gave a speech.
