A Death By Hanging Verdict Is Upheld By The Cassation Court

03 April 2022 Crime News

Earlier in April 2020, the woman killed her husband in their apartment in Al-Masayel. The Court of Cassation has upheld the decision and sentenced her to death by hanging.

A lawyer for the victim's heirs, Ibrahim Al-Kandari, gave an interview to a local Arabic daily in which he confirmed that he explained to the court the facts and circumstances of the crime which, legally and in fact, require the death penalty against the individual accused.

In asserting the ugliness of the crime, Al-Kandari showed the court that the accused struck the victim 19 times on the back of his head with an iron hammer and stabbed him in the face with a kitchen knife.

After the Court of Appeals averted the conviction of the woman, the prosecution appealed the verdict and sought the death penalty. The First Instance had sentenced her to life imprisonment.
