300 Domestic Workers Have Been Arrested For Violating The Labor Law
Deputy Director of the Labor Protection Sector at the Public Authority for Manpower Mubarak Al-Azmi confirmed supervision and inspection of recruitment agencies has been tightened to find out the extent of their commitment to the application of the law “68/2015” on domestic workers, reports Al-Jarida daily.
Al-Azmi said nearly 300 domestic workers have been arrested for violating the labor law and will be blacklisted to prevent them from transferring their residence permit to the private sector under Article 18, or bring them back to the country if they are deported. Al-Azmi told Al-Jarida that they are referred to the General Department of Investigation of Residence Affairs in the Ministry of Interior to take legal action against them and deport them from the country, as well as take legal action against their sponsors.
He pointed out controlling the labor market in general and domestic labor in particular is a top priority, therefore, the Department of Domestic Workers has been provided with 6 new inspectors to keep a tap on the recruitment agencies and ensure the law is applied.
