Criminal Court Has Acquitted A Citizen Of Possessing Hashish And Trafficking In Drugs
The Criminal Court has acquitted a citizen of possessing hashish and trafficking in drugs. Case files indicate the officer in charge of the case received information that the suspect is trading in drugs so he sent an undercover agent to buy drugs from the suspect who agreed to meet him in Qurain.
The officer got permission from the concerned authority to arrest the suspect in the act. During inspection, the securitymen tasked to carry out the buy-bust operation found a big quantity of drugs in the suspect’s possession. However, lawyer for the accused, Attorney Ena’m Al- Haider, argued in court that the permission obtained from the Public Prosecution is invalid because it was based on illegal investigations. She pointed out that the procedures taken in inspecting her client’s house were also illegal because they were done according to an invalid permission as per Article 80 of the Penalty Law
