Traffic Patrols To Check Chaos As Kuwait Readies For ‘back To School’
Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior Lieutenant-General Sheikh Faisal Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah affirmed on Sunday that there are intensive security and traffic preparations for the return of students to school in order to avoid congestion that may occur during going and returning from schools. Sheikh Al-Nawaf added in a statement to the Department of Relations and Security Media, after presiding over a security meeting to review these preparations, that there will be a security deployment of fixed and mobile security and traffic patrols on all roads to achieve traffic flow in order to facilitate citizens and residents to reach their work easily.
He called on everyone to cooperate with the security forces, to fully abide by traffic regulations and rules, to avoid all kinds of wrong parking, especially near schools, to avoid speeding and wrong traffic behaviors, in order to ensure the safety of road users. Meanwhile, Kuwait General Administration of Customs (KGAC) intends to refer 86 senior employees – mostly technicians – for retirement by the end of this year, reports Al-Rai daily quoting sources. Sources disclosed the administration has prepared the list of the abovementioned employees, indicating the list will be submitted to Minister of Interior Sheikh Thamer Al- Ali.
Sources said the list includes directors of departments, observers, heads of departments, inspectors, security and safety auditors, and jurists covered by the Civil Service Commission’s retirement regulations; most notably Land Customs Department Director Mishaan Al-Saidi, Salmi Port Controller Mater Al-Dhafiri, South Ports Department Director Hadi Al-Ajmi, and Director of the Intelligence Office Hammoud Al-Anzi. Sources said the administration specified the conditions for retirement – the employees have been in service for 30 to 34 years and above 55 years old. Sources added the administration sent a list of 110 senior employees to the Public Institution for Social Security (PIFSS) to determine if they fulfill the retirement conditions but only 86 met the conditions. Sources affirmed the retirement procedures for these 86 employees are expected to be completed before the end of this year.
