Teenagers, Influenced By Social Media To Buy Narcotics

Al-Qabas daily cites sources in the security sector as saying that social media advertisements are encouraging youths to buy Shab, Captagon pills, and other psychotropics. The Public Prosecution has been notified that a number of those involved in this crime have been arrested.

Kuwait is a target for drug traffickers due to the high prices of these substances compared to neighboring countries (10 times higher than the prices in other countries), with estimated drug trafficking revenues reaching KD200 million between January 2021 and June 2022.

In addition, the concerned authorities have increased efforts to implement an effective drug control system, including detecting contraband at sea, land, and air ports with the latest technologies. Furthermore, lawyers revealed that youths committed 300 percent more crimes in the past year due to their use of drugs and psychotropic substances.
