Public Debt Law Necessary To Defend Interests, Money Of People
Minister of Finance and Minister of State for Economic Affairs and Investment, Abdul Wahab Al-Rasheed has stressed of the necessity to issue the public debt law to finance the budget deficit saying it should be based on a comprehensive economic plan.
Al-Qabas has learned the ministry has already begun work in this area.
The minister said, in a tweet on his personal Twitter account that the tax is not a priority for economic reform, but the value-added tax and the selective tax are an international obligation, but the way to implement them should be through a law and not by a decision of the minister.
Al-Rasheed added, “We have sworn to defend the interests of the people and their money, and this oath for me is the road map that I will follow even if I am alone.”
The minister rejected media intimidation attempts led by some, saying, the message to those who sense danger from ‘our steps’ by twisting words and attempting to “terrorize us through the media will not deter us from implementing the desire of the political leadership to implement the law and fight corruption, which is the first step of economic reform.”
