Pam Underlines 4 Procedures To Deal With Absconding Domestic Workers

The Public Authority for Manpower (PAM) confirmed that there are 4 steps that must be followed in the event that domestic workers have absconded from their sponsors’ home to an unknown destination, Al Rai daily reported.

PAM explained that the procedures are as follows:

1- Register an absentee report with one of the Ministry of Interior’s service centers.

2- Go to the Department for Regulating the Recruitment of Domestic Workers, affiliated with PAM, to register a complaint and insist that you as the sponsor will not incur the cost of the plane ticket for the absconding domestic worker once she or he is caught, and can claim compensation for the non-completion of the contract period.

3- In the event that the domestic worker has not completed six months from the date of recruitment, the office is obliged to compensate the employer for the full amount paid for the recruitment, and will pay for the domestic worker’s return travel ticket to her or his country

4- In the event of the end of the bail period, the complaint will be transferred to the judiciary, who will in turn issue a ruling for the sponsor to not be responsible for the travel ticket, and the Ministry of Interior will bear the expenses for returning the domestic worker, and also provide the means of compensation for non-fulfillment of contract.
