New WhatsApp Feature: Filtering Status Updates To Enhance User Experience
Earlier this year, WhatsApp introduced the live channel feature, which allows users to connect with their favorite creators, celebrities, and organizations without providing a phone number. WhatsApp users, however, have encountered difficulties viewing status updates since the launch of the new channel feature.
On the status tab, all statuses are aligned horizontally at the top for those connected to any channel. It is difficult for users to differentiate between viewed, muted, and recent status updates due to this linear arrangement. A new feature is being developed by WhatsApp to address this issue by providing users with the option to filter statuses. Users will have options to filter by All, Recent, Viewed, and Muted at the top of the page.
Users can view the statuses of all their contacts under the "All" section. The “Recent” tab will display recently posted status updates by contacts, while the “Viewed” section will showcase statuses that users have already seen. Additionally, the “Muted” tab will present muted statuses. This feature aims to benefit users connected to channels who previously struggled to manage their status updates effectively.
The update is currently available to Android beta testers, with plans to roll it out to all users soon. Be among the first to experience WhatsApp's latest updates by signing up for the beta program.
