Motorists, Farm-owners Urge Mpw, Part To Repair The Road Of Death
The daily had earlier reported that the road close to the Wafra Water Pumping Station, has turned into a “Road of Death”, becoming a model of government negligence, lackluster and dereliction by the Ministry of Public Works and PART in terms of protecting the lives of citizens and residents who ply the road.
Despite the repeated appeals and entreaties from owners of Wafra farms to repair the road, the officials turned deaf ears, and the crisis has continued without solutions for years, regardless of the severe accidents and the dangers that the “death road” users are exposed to. A number of farm owners and users of Wafra Road appealed to MPW and PART to fix the roundabout, explaining that the large potholes on the road along the roundabout and the paths leading to it caused serious accidents and breakdowns for vehicles, and the owners of these vehicles end up paying a heavy price, especially after the delay in repairing the road, which turned into a swamp and path of large potholes, to such an extent that the accidents occur are often extreme.
They urged the concerned authorities for urgent repair of the road, especially with the rainy season, which may exacerbate the problem and lead to disasters that extend beyond mere car breakdowns.
According to reliable sources from the Ministry of Public Works, the reason behind the damage to one of the main roads on a roundabout on Road 500 in Wafra area is its proximity to the Wafra water filling station, reports Aljarida daily. In a press statement, they indicated that the lack of commitment to water tankers to control the spillage of water from the tankers as they exit the filling station is the main reason behind the damage to the asphalt.
The sources called on the Ministry of Electricity and Water to tighten control over water tankers, as they cause damage to roads in many areas, not only in Wafra, but also in many roads near most of the water filling stations, which is a frequent problem that the roads near those stations endure. It is worth mentioning that the Ministry of Public Works received a complaint from a citizen regarding the damage to the road, and is planning to repair it out of concern for the safety of road users.
A video that went viral on social media shows some citizens complaining about the damage to a road near Wafra water pump and their inability to reach their farms due to the bad road condition. A number of farm owners and motorists on Wafra Road have appealed to the Ministry of Public Works and the Public Authority for Roads and Transportation (PART) to repair the roundabout on Route 500 of Wafra Road which is close to the water filling station.
