Ministry Ensures Rapid Response To Rainwater Challenges
The Ministry of Public Works has confirmed that its emergency teams are continuously deployed across locations susceptible to rainwater accumulation. In responding to rainwater buildups, the ministry commended the effective coordination between different state agencies and the constructive collaboration between them. To ensure uninterrupted traffic flow throughout the country, the ministry expressed its commitment to overseeing rainwater drainage pumps situated along highways, particularly in tunnels. In diverse areas, continuous coordination with the Meteorological Department was emphasized.
A related development occurred yesterday evening when Eid Al-Rashidi, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Works, and Khaled Al-Osaimi, the Director of the General Authority for Roads and Land Transport, conducted an inspection. The team assessed the preparedness of rainwater drainage pumping stations along highways and within tunnels along various streets, main roads, and tunnels. During the inspection, emergency teams and supervisory agencies affiliated with the Ministry and the General Authority for Roads were present. During the recent rainy season, they focused on maintaining smooth road conditions and efficient pump operation. As a result, the rain drainage system effectively handled the rainfall without causing any disruptions to highways or surrounding areas.
