Kuwait Returns To Square One
Kuwait returned to square one again in dealing with the Coronavirus epidemic, as the Council of Ministers decided in its extraordinary meeting to impose a partial curfew for a whole month, for 12 hours a day from 5 pm until 5 am, starting next Sunday, this 7 until April 8th, provided that the ban will be reviewed a month, after which it will be either cancelled, reduced or increase hours, Al Qabas reported.
Allowed activities at curfew time
1- Going out to perform the obligatory prayers in mosques on foot.
2- Delivery service for pharmacies, medical supplies stores, cooperative societies and parallel markets.
3- Carrying out air-conditioning and elevator maintenance activities.
Forbidden outside the ban
1- It is not permitted to enter restaurants and cafes, and only receive orders from cars or delivery services.
2- Taxis are limited to carry two passengers only.
3- Close all seating areas in public places.
4- Close public parks and gardens.
The cautionary measure was imposed by the worsening epidemiological situation in the country and the escalation of Coronavirus infections numbers, which reached 4,466 cases during the past three days. So the Cabinet resorted yesterday to imposing a partial curfew.
After the Council of Ministers tried more than once to avoid resorting to the curfew option, it was forced to do so yesterday, and stressed the need to avoid contact and adhere to preventive measures and health requirements, and cooperate with the relevant authorities to control the epidemic.
Respiratory emergency
Within this context, the Cabinet listened to the visual presentation made by: The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health, Dr. Mustafa Reda, and the Assistant Undersecretary for Public Health Affairs, Dr. Buthaina Al-Mudhaf and Dr. Laila Al-Enezi on the situation of public hospitals during the month of February, in which they explained the general rate of visits to the respiratory emergency departments in government hospitals, which increased significantly to 600 cases per day, as well as the increase in the weekly rate of admission to the internal and intensive care departments.
The measures taken aimed to confront the pandemic and the increase in the number of infections.
The third curfew during the pandemic
The partial cufew, which was decided by the Council of Ministers yesterday, is the third in the country since the outbreak of the Coronavirus pandemic.
March 22, 2020, The first curfew began (from 5 pm until 4 am)
May 10, 2020, a full curfew is imposed until May 30, 2020.
