Kuwait Implements Ban On Carton Waste Exports

25 March 2024 Kuwait

Abdullah Al-Joan, Minister of Commerce and Industry and Chairman of the Public Industries Authority, has announced a three-month ban on the export and re-export of carton waste.

The ministry's statement highlighted that this decision aligns with the country's strategy to promote carton recycling. Carton serves as a vital material for Kuwaiti factories, facilitating the production of various products for the local market at affordable prices. It was noted that local factories require approximately 30,000 tons of carton monthly.

Furthermore, the statement emphasized the necessity of recycling carton waste to meet the demands of local factories. Recycling plays a crucial role in Kuwait's environmental preservation efforts, preventing the depletion of natural resources, and positioning the nation alongside advanced countries in sustainable material investment.
