Kuwait Halts Work Permits For Egyptian Workers Amidst New Regulations
Recent reports from reliable sources within the Ministry of Interior and the Public Authority for Manpower reveal that directives have been issued to suspend the issuance of work permits for Egyptian workers as of yesterday. This decision is part of a strategic effort to enforce new regulations aimed at enhancing oversight in the work permit issuance process.
Sources indicate that the decision to halt work permits for Egyptian workers follows a series of complaints lodged by employers. Allegations suggest that certain Egyptian authorities have been pressuring employers to obtain insurance for each worker from non-Kuwaiti insurance companies, raising concerns about the fairness and transparency of the recruitment process.
In response to these concerns, both the Public Authority for Manpower and the Ministry of Interior are actively working to implement stringent controls over the recruitment of Egyptian workers. Priority will be given to individuals with advanced degrees and specialized skills that meet the specific demands of the Kuwaiti labor market.
This decision underscores a broader initiative aimed at streamlining the recruitment process, promoting transparency, and ensuring that foreign workers entering Kuwait contribute positively to the country's workforce. As authorities proceed with the implementation of these new controls, further updates are anticipated to be announced in due course.
