Kpc Plans To Build A Maleic Anhydride Plant Inside Kuwait
The Kuwait Petroleum Corporation is offering an opportunity for qualified investors to establish a maleic plant in Kuwait for the production of unsaturated polyester resin as well as in the manufacture of coatings, pharmaceuticals, agricultural products, surfactants, and as an additive of plastics, glass-fibre-reinforced plastics, as well as in lubricant oil additives, in addition to other industries such as food and personal care products. The KPC has stated its desire to sell "n-butene" product through long-term contracts to a local or international investor in this regard, as the total quantity initially amounts to about 30,000 tonnes annually, to be used locally as feedstock to establish a factory for the production of "maleic anhydride" inside Kuwait, provided that the transport of the "n-butene" product is not prohibited.
The KPC urged anyone interested in establishing the plant mentioned in this article in Kuwait, whether they are local or foreign investors, to submit a request for a desire before September 22 along with a statement of the company's financial position, activity, products, and services if they have the critical capabilities to buy and exploit the "n-butene" product.
The KPC also requests that those seeking investment state whether they possess the necessary technology or the licence for it, as well as any prior experience they may have had in the "maleic anhydride" industries. Those seeking investment are also asked to state whether industrial land is available in the project's area, or if they have plans to acquire the necessary industrial land.
The Kuwaiti Planning Commission (KPC) requested that the advanced investor explain his strategy for maximising local content in the following areas: employment of Kuwaiti workers (job opportunities expected to be provided to Kuwaitis, with an indication of the expected percentage of Kuwaiti workers); a statement of the expected volume of local spending in providing materials and services for the project; a feasibility study for the project, if any; and a statement of the plan that the investor will follow.
This is in addition to the initial timeline for the project's establishment that has been proposed. She stated that applicants' requests for a declaration of desire will be accepted until September 22, 2022, in accordance with what was stated. After this date, no applications will be considered. All desire requests that meet the requirements and are accompanied by the required documents will be examined, and any that do not will be disqualified. When submitting the "n-butene" product to the investor who wins the bidding based on worldwide prices, the investor (application) is completely responsible for disclosing any information that involves intellectual property, whether it is for him or for someone else.
