Kd 464,000 Allocated For Diabetes Cure
The Ministry of Health has obtained regulatory approvals to supply pharmacies in public hospitals and health centers with diabetes medicines at an estimated cost of KD 464,000, reports Al-Qabas daily quoting informed sources. Source told the daily that the ministry is also in the process of supplying medicines for blood diseases worth KD 303,000; in addition to KD 382,000 for kidney disease and dialysis; KD 219,000 for hepatitis and KD 205,000 for mental illness.
Sources explained that medicine requests are subject to direct control tightened by ministry officials after the approval of the chairpersons of medical departments.
On the other hand, Director General of Dasman Diabetes Institute Dr Qais Al-Duwairi confirmed the institute has finally obtained the HIPAA accreditation to ensure the privacy and protection of medical data. This is an American legislation on data privacy and safety provisions to protect medical information.
He pointed out the growing importance of this legislation considering the prevalence of health data violations caused by cyber attacks, as well as attacks on insurance companies and health service providers. Al-Duwairi added in a press statement recently that the Compliancy LLC Group supervised compliance of the institute, which was established by Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences, to the standards for obtaining this accreditation since July 2019.
He said the annual audits and documents by HIPAA showed that the institute exerted remarkable effort to comply with regulations on security for administrative, structural and technical guarantees, with the completion of policy requirements, procedures and documents.
He went on to say that the institute’s acquisition of this new international accreditation has been added to its record of achievements to provide the best health services on par with global standards with the utmost level of competence and professionalism.
