In Kuwait, Indian Schools Delay Complete Class Attendance

27 March 2022 Kuwait

Kuwaiti newspaper reports that twenty Indian schools are postponing all-out class participation until next September.

As a precaution prompted by efforts to curb the spread of COVID-19, Al Rai noted that schools would resume full-day classes on Sunday, April 3, replacing a current system that halved class attendance.

A paper quoted an education source as saying, "Fifty per cent of students at these schools will alternate attending class on one day in the second semester."

Sources say that the postponement is due to a shortage of teachers, cleaners, and bus drivers. The source added that school equipment is also lacking to cope with the high student density since the pandemic began in February 2020.

Kuwait has a total population of 4.6 million people, of which almost 1 million are Indians.

As a result of largely easing COVID-19 restrictions, the second semester in Kuwaiti public schools began on March 6.
