Against the backdrop of Iranian allegations, the most recent of which were made by the Iranian presidential assistant regarding “ownership of the Durra field,” in response Foreign Minister Abdullah Al-Yahya stressed that the joint Gulf statements that were issued during the recent tours of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad in the Gulf Cooperation Council countries have resolved their position on the “Durra Field,” reports Al-Qabas daily.

Regarding developments in Palestine, the Foreign Minister reiterated Kuwait’s absolute support for the Palestinian cause, noting that “providing aid to the Palestinian people is the top concern of the political leadership, and we continue to stand with the brothers in Gaza in facing the repercussions of the crisis they are going through.” He pointed out that the Palestinian issue occupied a prominent place during his last tour. “We met with foreign ministers and officials in several countries and sought to convince them of the necessity of reconsidering the decision to freeze the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), and they promised to support the organization again, and some countries will resume their support for the agency soon.”

Al-Yahya reiterated Kuwait’s position calling for an immediate halt to the Israeli aggression against Gaza, providing international protection for the Palestinian people, ensuring the entry of relief and basic aid to the residents of the Gaza Strip, and preventing any attempts at forced displacement of the Palestinian people. Al-Yahya stated that Kuwait is keen to contribute in support of the humanitarian agency’s projects for the relief of Palestinian refugees in the occupied Palestinian territories, noting the solidarity of Kuwait’s leadership, government and people with the brothers to obtain their full legitimate rights.
