Kuwait-Saudi Railway Link Project To Start Before The End Of The Year
Kuwait has taken concrete actions regarding the railway link project with Saudi Arabia. Informed sources disclosed to Al-Qabas newspaper that the project’s operations will commence before the end of this year or early next year at the latest. They emphasized the shared commitment of both the Kuwaiti and Saudi sides to accelerate project completion, with consensus on financial, economic, technical, and legal aspects.
The sources indicated that 80% of the financial, economic, and technical studies had been completed. It is expected that all components of the project, including the necessary plans and initial contracts, will be ready by May 16.
Sources explained that, according to the agreement between the two countries, the railway link project between Kuwait and Saudi Arabia is distinct from the railway project of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries. Regarding the role assigned to regulatory authorities, sources indicated that the State Audit Bureau of Kuwait has agreed to study the financial, economic, and technical feasibility of the project.
It is worth noting that the distance between Kuwait and the Saudi capital, Riyadh, is approximately 700 kilometers. It is expected that the travel time between Kuwait and Riyadh, or vice versa, will take approximately 120 to 150 minutes.
