The General Administration of Customs has been asked to tighten control and take deterrent measures to stop the smuggling of subsidized materials abroad, especially to neighboring countries.

According to a local Arabic newspaper, the Ministry said it was necessary to intensify customs efforts at border crossings in order to maintain the country's food security system.

In response to the events unfolding around the world, all countries need to secure their food stocks, which necessitates tighter control at customs outlets in order to prevent subsidized products from being smuggled in.

The Kuwait Flour Mills and Bakeries Company, however, told the Ministry of Commerce that its distributor in Iraq is selling large quantities of subsidized products meant for Kuwait only.

It has been noted by the flour mills company that these negative practices will have negative repercussions and affect the country's strategic stock, which requires intensifying efforts to stop them.
