Filipino Workers' Remittances To Kuwait Decline By 0.79 Percent In 2021

The Central Bank of the Philippines reports that remittances from Filipino workers living in Gulf Cooperation Council countries increased slightly by 0.67 percent in 2021, to $5.148 billion, compared to $5.114 billion the previous year.

In Qatar, UAE, and Saudi Arabia, Filipino remittances rose by more than 1 percent to $829.48 million, as well as 2.56% in the UAE. These three Gulf countries were largely driven by the UAE (remittances totaled $1.32 billion in last year) while Saudi Arabia grew by 1.31 percent with remittances to $1.835 billion.

The Sultanate of Oman recorded the biggest drop in remittances by 6.32 percent (about $361.67 million) followed by Bahrain, which decreased by 1.16 percent to reach $225.89 million, and Kuwait, which decreased by 5.76 percent to reach $576.06 million.
