Rapporteur of the Supreme Committee for Commercial Restoration at Kuwait International Airport M. Saad Al-Otaibi said that the total number of arriving and departing passengers has reached 42,410 on 534 flights since the start of commercial flights at Kuwait airport, Al Jarida reports.

Al-Otaibi said on 20 August that the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) did not make any changes to the list of the 31 prohibited countries where expats are banned from entering Kuwait due to the repercussions of the coronavirus pandemic, and mentioned that the health authorities review the decision every 10 days carefully to determine the extent of the improvement of health conditions in those countries.

On flight traffic at the airport, Al-Otaibi mentioned that traffic at the Kuwait airport is proceeding normally, as the number of passengers departing since the start of commercial flights from the beginning of this month until yesterday was a total of 28,414 passengers onboard 285 commercial flights, and pointed out that all flights are running normally and without any delay.

Regarding arrivals, he stressed that all arriving travelers are subject, in accordance with the directions of the health authorities, to home quarantine for 14 days. The number of incoming flights to Kuwait since the opening of the airport was more than 249 flights until yesterday, which included 13,996 passengers on board, he added.

Al-Otaibi explained that the airport requires all travelers coming to Kuwait, whether citizens or expats, to present a PCR certificate confirming their coronavirus free status, and to ensure it is issued by one of the laboratories accredited by the competent authorities in Kuwait, in addition to making sure its validity does not exceed 72 hours from the date of taking the sample until the passenger boards the flight.
