Citizens Scramble To Obtain Certificates Of Exemption From Vaccination

11 July 2021 Kuwait

A new shipment of the AstraZeneca/Oxford vaccine is expected to arrive in the country at the end of this month, noting that this will contribute to expanding and accelerating the national vaccination campaign, Al-Rai reported.

With the approaching August 1, the day of implementing the decision to prevent citizens from traveling abroad unless they have received two doses of the vaccine, except those who obtain a certificate that they cannot receive the vaccine due to medical reasons, a growing segment of citizens are applying for a certificate of exemption, but the majority of these requests are rejected by the Ministry of Health due to the lack of health reasons.

Requests for obtaining an exemption certificate have increased since the issuance of the recent decisions of the Council of Ministers to restrict entry to some facilities, such as salons, health clubs, restaurants, cafes, and shopping malls, to those who received the anti-Coronavirus vaccine and the exempted categories as of last June 27.

In a development that would allow the possibility of conducting a Corona examination at home, the health authorities are considering allowing the introduction of (Antigen-Tests) examination in private sector pharmacies, which is a type of rapid examination through which the result can be obtained within 15 minutes.

The sources indicated that one of the advantages of this examination is that it can be conducted at home when the patient feels any symptoms similar to the symptoms of infection with the Coronavirus, noting that this type of examination is not as accurate as of the PCR examination.

The sources reported that a new laboratory was approved to conduct the PCR examination, bringing the number of private laboratories that met the accreditation criteria to 6.
